WWE Video games should be offered as part of the WWE Network

The WWE has four main points of revenue: the media division, live events, consumer products, and films produced by WWE studios. Part of the consumer products division is WWE’s annual video game. WWE2K15 is scheduled to be released in North America on October 28, 2014 and internationally three days later. The game will be offered on PlayStation 4 and 3 along with Xbox One and 360. Although WWE games have been wildly successful being distributed in this traditional fashion over the years, I would suggest a new way of launching the next video game and all other games afterward. WWE went global with its initiative of  24/7 streaming content online known as the WWE Network over the summer. This initiative has been very successful but WWE could take it a step further by offering their future video games as an online gaming experience threw the WWE Network for a monetary additional cost. By offering, WWE2K16 and other games exclusively through the WWE Network WWE would create more traffic on the network site along with diminishing the cost of production of the game. Online gaming is an extremely popular avenue of video games that has yet to be tapped into by WWE. The video game can offer new features that will allow gamers to play against each other from anywhere in the world. This would be unprecedented as the current WWE games do not have an online gaming feature that allow gamers from across the world to connect and compete against each other. WWE could also alter their video game’s story mode option and give it a multiplayer option allowing further interaction between gamers as they try to complete quests against or with each other. The addition of these two features along with being able to play the game without a separate console would propel the sales of both the WWE Network and future WWE video games.
