Mania Travel Packages
Every year at the beginning of spring WWE hosts their annual Wrestlemania event. This is the company's biggest live event and pay-per-view drawing millions from around the world to partake in the festivities that make that time of year so special for wrestling fans. WWE is cognizant of the lengths it's fans go to in order to attend the costly event and therefore offer several pieces of that weeks' activities as part of a "Travel Package". These travel packages normally go on sale in the fall. However WWE does not properly advertise them. Every year wrestling fans are given a one week notice prior to the sale of these packages and it limits revenue for WWE. The biggest package offered this year is the California Dreamin' Package. This package went on sale September 29th however it was not advertised on television or anywhere on the internet until September 21st. This gave wrestling fans one week to come up with $5,500 that the package costs in order to make the most of their Wrestlemania experience. By the time most middle class or lower fans have gathered the money the premium package is sold out. Fans need more advance on all Wrestlemania packages in order for all fans to have a fair shot at maximizing their experience. Although Wrestlemania travel packages include lots of wrestling shows, autograph sessions, and hotel accommodations they do not include air travel. Every year at Wrestlemania WWE commentators boasts how mania the fans in attendance are made up of people from every state in the U.S. and 70 countries around the world. Even though WWE is aware that majority of Wrestlemania attendees are not local none of their "Travel Packages" have actually provided a means for travel. If WWE can work out deals for the hotels and venues near Wrestlemania for the fans they should be able to have a deal offered on an airline to help fans travel.
Great post Darwin! I agree with you they should definitely give more notice on the packages they offer for Wrestlemania. I have never heard about the offers and that could entice me to attend a Wrestlemania, especially if I'm traveling to that location that weekend. Including air travel is a great idea, but trying to accommodate everyone would be almost impossible, because people are traveling from all 50 states and 70 different countries. Their would be over 120 different prices for one package. Hopefully one day I can attend a Wrestlemania.
